Chucky is one of the most iconic movie villains of all time. He’s been causing mayhem for over 20 years now. Many kids today are only familiar with the more comical side of Chucky and they don’t even know their history and his darker side. Though the franchise was never really all that scary to begin with 1998′s Bride of Chucky is the film that took the comedy over the ledge (not necessarily a bad thing). The movie paired Chucky with Jennifer Tilly/Tiffany a former lover and accomplice who brings Chucky back to life only to be killed herself (at the hands of Chucky) and also have her soul put into a doll. The two aren’t the only couple in the film we also have Tiffany’s neighbor Jesse (Nick Stabile) and his girlfriend Jade (Katherine Heigl). Chucky, who is still intent on becoming human again, concocts a plan with Tiffany to retrieve an amulet that was buried with his body in New Jersey. Tiffany sends Jesse a message asking him to take the two dolls to New Jersey in exchange for cash. Jesse convinces Jade to go with him, a road trip and mass murders ensue.
Chucky is a serial killer and a horror icon but for the intentions of this article he is officially a ladies man. So without further ado this is What the Bride of Chucky and Seed of Chucky Taught Me about Love.
**1. All women have that one guy that they will always have feelings for.
Even though it was many years since Charles Lee Ray was gunned down in the original Child’s Play. His girlfriend Tiffany never lost hope that she would once again be reunited with the love of her life and they would get married. Chucky of course had other plans.
The message I take away from this is me imagining that every girl that I’ve ever been with secretly wants me back in their life. Of course I’m sure that’s not the case.
**2. Don’t let any one individual get in the way of true love.
Jade’s police-officer uncle Warren (John Ritter) is completely against her and Jesse relationship even taking it to the point of planting a bag of marijuana in Jesse’s van to keep the two of them apart. We all know what happened next.
I think we have all been in a relationship where a relative or friend just did not approve. Don’t let such things deter you. As long as you don’t brutally murder the opposition.
**3. Love conquers all, except when you’re dating a serial killer.
What would a Child’s Play road trip movie be without murder and mayhem? As Jesse and Jade fall deeper in love and even get married out of the blue murder follows and of course the newly wed couple is soon blamed for everything. The couple each believes the other is responsible and they immediately start to question their relationship.
The message to take away here is that no matter how much you think you know somebody and you think your in love life has unforeseen circumstances that can send your relationship on a downward spiral.
**4. Don’t take your significant other for granted.
Nearly making it to the grave sight Jade manages to turn Tiffany against Chucky. How you ask? By bringing it to her attention that after whipping up some dinner and slaving away in the kitchen that Chucky couldn’t even bother doing the dishes. Now for a normal couple this might have been a minor disagreement but nothing about these two are normal. TIFFANY WENT BATSHIT!
Guys, if your lady ever does anything for you, even if it’s on daily basis please let her know how much you appreciate it or else feel the wrath of women who has to wash dirty dishes!!
**5. Love never dies, IT JUST SITS DORMANT UNTIL THE SEQUEL.
By the end of the movie all the love in Chucky and Tiffany’s life seems to have been drained…VIOLENTLY. During the final act Tiffany distracts him by kissing him while she pulls the knife out of his pocket, stabbing him in his back. They fight until he stabs her in the heart, where she collapses to the ground. I’m sure there is no chance of reconciliation? WRONG, by the time the next installment Seed of Chucky is released all is seemingly forgiven (for the most part). Love is pretty resilient.
The message to take away from this is that no matter how bleak your relationship seems to be you can always kiss and make up. Now your girlfriend stabbing you in the back LITERALLY is a bit extreme but you get the point.
**6. Having a baby won’t save a downhill relationship
After Tiffany and Chuck bumped plastic parts Tiff got pregnant and a few years later we got Seed of Chucky. Needless to say things didn’t end well for the couple.
If you have a relationship that is one fight away from being over getting pregnant or getting your girlfriend pregnant isn’t the answer. It’s just going to complicate things.
Don’t So take these few lessons with you and start building a stronger relationship. If you can find a girlfriend or boyfriend to read this and then go watch Bride of Chucky then you’re already on the right track.
