As a huge fan of the horror genre it’s always sad to see the amount of terribleness that is produced year after year. For every hundred great (or good) movies we have a million dreadful ones. Today we are going to be looking at some of the hottest female characters of the worst horror films.
This list is unusual in that these entries are not the worst films ever and these aren’t the hottest actresses. It is a weird combination of both and we invite you to join us.
30. Natascha McElhone – Feardotcom (2002)
Back in the early ‘00s the internet was still fresh and mysterious. The horror genre took advantage with this mess of a film. The titular snuff-movie website drives its visitors round the bend via fear-induced hallucinations.
29. Rooney Mara – A Nightmare On Elm Street (2010)
When they replaced Robert Englund with Jackie Earle Haley in the role of Freddy Krueger, horror fans lost their minds. When Rooney Mara was set to play Nancy (the role originally played by Heather Langenkamp) we waited to see what would happen. Well, the movie itself was terrible, of course. Mara wasn’t that bad; but that’s not exactly a ringing endorsement.
28. Winona Ryder – Lost Souls (2000)
Lost Souls has traces of films like the Omen and such but an Omen it is not. Winona Ryder plays a exorcism survivor who helps a bunch of Catholics search for a man possibly possessed by Satan.
27. Adelaide Kane – The Purge (2013)
The Purge had an interesting premise that couldn’t quite live up to expectations. One night a year you can do whatever you want with no consequences. Why the hell the filmmakers only focus on this one family is beyond us. The film follows the Sandin family; Adelaide Kane plays Zoey, the oldest daughter who also makes horrible life decisions. Dressed in her schoolgirl outfit it’s hard not to have impure thoughts.
26. Reiko Aylesworth – Aliens Vs Predator: Requiem (2007)
Alien vs. Predator sounds good on paper, and it was on paper via a late ‘80s comic-book. Over a decade later we saw this concept reach the big-screen and a few years later we got a sequel to the original mediocre film. Reiko plays a bad-ass chick who knows how to handle a weapon.
25. Paris Hilton – House Of Wax (2005)
People complain that socialite Paris Hilton doesn’t have any talents. Well, in her first mainstream acting outing she actually was fairly competent. Paris hooks up with her boyfriend in the woods (where else?) strips down in her bra & panties for him and ultimately gets dispatched with extreme prejudice.
24. Patty Mullen – Frankenhooker (1990)
Frankenhooker follows an out of his mind scientist who recreates his dead girlfriend using body parts from prostitutes. The films gets dozens of cheap laughs at the expense of several dead hookers. Well, it is sort of funny.
23. Elisha Cuthbert – House Of Wax (2005)
In the remake to the old-school classic House Of Wax we see many new special-effects but not many new scares. Elisha Cuthbert goes through a brutal ordeal in the flick. She gets her finger cut off, her lips super-glued together and just overall takes quite the beating. What a trooper.
22. Adelaide Clemens – Silent Hill: Revelation 3D (2012)
The original Silent Hill is easily one of better video game adaptations of its time, Silent Hill: Revelation on the other hand is easily one of the worst. Adelaide Clemens wasn’t the problem; as she did the best with what she had to work with. The script was awful, the visuals were horrible and the pacing was just awkward as hell.
21. Selma Blair – The Fog (2005)
Remaking iconic horror films with a PG-13 attached to it is never a good idea. John Carpenter’s original film was just fine and this remake was another unnecessary film. Selma Blair is always a delight.
20. Alexandra Daddario – Texas Chainsaw 3D (2013)
Texas Chainsaw 3D was tasked with trying to turn horror icon Leatherface into the ultimate anti-hero (it didn’t work). He kills Trey Songs and goes about his normal homicidal biddings. Alexandra Daddario plays Heather Miller who turns out to be Leatherface’s cousin; MIND BLOWN!
19. Ashley Greene – The Apparition (2012)
Ashley Greene first made a name for herself in the Twilight franchise. This would open the doors for her starring role in the horrendous film The Apparition. The film follows a bunch of hot girls who must find the existence of an evil entity. The movie also contains some of the most perplexing decisions by characters ever committed to film.
18. Fernanda Andrade – The Devil Inside (2012)
In recent years we have had a number of horror films simply trying to mirror Paranormal Activity‘s success (or failures). The Devil Inside is the epitome of this fad; arguably the worst exorcist film of recent history. The story is nonsensical and you just want to punch the characters in the face. Except for Fernanda Andrade of course.
17. Anessa Ramsey – Rites of Spring (2011)
Rites Of Spring is painstakingly by-the numbers; a masked killer, a creepy location and a wanna-bee actress. This, of course doesn’t work (no matter how hot the actress is). The film follows a group of kidnappers and sadistic rituals.
16. Sheri Moon Zombie – Halloween II (2009)
When Rob Zombie remade John Carpenter’s Halloween back in 2007 the film was met with mixed results. Some people praised the film for the ferociousness and its darker imagery. Rob’s wife Sheri played Michael Myers mother Deborah in the original and the sub-sequential sequel. H2 is a puzzling film featuring a psychic link, which bogs the film down in self-pitying visions of Michael mom riding a horse. Plus this is one of the few movies where we don’t see Sheri Moon Zombie nude.
15. Maggie Grace – The Fog (2005)
When they remade the original Fog they replaced a town full of great character actors with toned stars Tom Welling and Maggie Grace. Though we don’t really mind looking at Maggie Grace for a nice period of time.
14. Jenna Jameson – Zombie Strippers (2008)
Zombie Strippers is essentially a soft-core vampire porn flick featuring Jenna Jameson and Robert Englund. The movie is horrible but if you’re a fan of women, vampires and strippers then you will be thoroughly entertained.
13. Odette Yustman – The Unborn (2009)
Riddled with clichés, The Unborn doesn’t trend any new ground. Casey Beldon (Odette Yustman) is under attack by the spirit of her unborn twin brother, Jumby. Sibling rivalry at it’s most frenzied.
12. Jennifer Lawrence – House at the End of the Street (2012)
While Jennifer Lawrence had an exceptional 2012 with films like The Hunger Games and Silver Linings Playbook, we’re sure she’d love to forget her contribution to Mark Tonderai’s critically unpleasant House At The End Of The Street – a bottom of the barrel thriller which didn’t impress in the least.
11. Eva Mendes – Urban Legends: Final Cut (2000)
Urban Legends: Final Cut also known as Urban Legend 2 is a 2000 sequel to the 1998 semi-classic Urban Legend. The film retreads familiar ground; killing victims by the same means of popular Urban Legends. Eva Mendes (pre-fame) plays a minor role where she looks gorgeous and then is killed promptly.
10. Julie Delpy – An American Werewolf In Paris (1997)
In this sequel to the beloved werewolf classic. U.S. tourist Andy (Tom Everett Scott) hooks up with Serafine (Julie Delpy), daughter of original American Werewolf David. Delpy strips off her cloths when she is about to transform into a werewolf and lucky for us, even when she isn’t.
9. Jennifer Esposito – Dracula 2000 (2000)
Gerald Butler plays Dracula and as usual with these types of films we are treated to a plethora of sexy vampires. The hottest of the bunch is Solina (Jennifer Esposito), the most vicious of them all.
8. Daniella Alonso – Snoop Dogg’s Hood Of Horror (2006)
Many people don’t remember this little laughable gem. Snoop Dogg’s Hood Of Horror was a mix of Tales From The Crypt and Tales From The Hood. Daniella Alonso plays a girl from the hood who loves to draw and graffiti. After meeting a bunch of gang bangers and then later a decrepit looking Danny Trejo she is giving some sort of weird powers via a tattoo on her arm. Or something along those lines.
7. Zooey Deschanel – The Happening (2008)
M. Night Shyamalan made a movie about killer plants; it was a real thing, it happened (pun indented). Mark Walberg had an extended conversation with a plant and a guy lays under a lawnmower. Zooey Deschanel plays the quirky adorable girlfriend.
6. Lindsay Lohan – I Know Who Killed Me (2007)
Lindsay Lohan playing a stripper is gift unto itself. The plot of the film follows a girl who is killed and has to find out who her killer is; or something. Well, we at least get to see Lindsay Lohan half-naked on the stripper pole.
5. Catherine Zeta-Jones – The Haunting (1999)
One of the highest grossing horror films of all time (which shows audiences don’t know much), Catherine Zeta-Jones plays a psychic investigator on the hunt for a ghost. Owen Wilson is also present.
4. Jordana Brewster – The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning (2006)
After Michael Bay and his cohorts resurrected Leatherface in the early ‘2000s we got a truly unnecessary prequel in the form of TCM; The Beginning. When a bunch of draft-dodging kids come to the wrong part Texas good ole Leatherface has the time of his life.
3. Jennifer Love Hewitt – I Still Know What You Did Last Summer (1998)
The original ‘I Still Know What You Did Last Summer’ wasn’t exactly a masterpiece but it wasn’t completely without merit. The sequel is merit-less; Jennifer Love Hewitt reprises her role as a girl living in guilt over killing some old guy who now slaughters his victims with a hook. Jack Black is also in the film as a weird white Jamaican hippy.
2. Jennifer Lopez – Anaconda (1997)
J. Lo, Ice Cube and John Voight head up the river without a paddle as they’re picked off by a giant anaconda. Lopez is sexy as ever; and the film’s sequels are admittedly worse. Yeah, Owen Wilson is in the mix as well.
1. Jennifer Tilly – Seed Of Chucky (2004)
People argue which film is the worst of the Child’s Play franchise; Seed Of Chucky or Child’s Play 3. Well, it’s pretty clear that Seed Of Chucky is the most ridiculous of the franchise. With the introduction of a son/daughter for Chucky and Tiffany (Jennifer Tilly); aptly named Glen/Glenda/Shitface. Jennifer Tilly reprises her role as the murderous Tiffany and she also plays herself. She makes out with Redman, talks s*** about Julia Roberts and goes through a weird voodoo pregnancy.
Also, the fact that the final three entries on this list are named Jennifer is purely coincidental.
