It Doesn’t Get Any Worse: The 20 Most Wince-Inducing Movie Castrations

15. In The Realm Of The Senses (1976)

In The Realm Of The Senses Castration Scene

The Movie: In 1936 Tokyo, Sada Abe (Eiko Matsuda) is a former prostitute who now works as a maid in a hotel. The hotel’s owner, Kichizo Ishida (Tatsuya Fuji), molests her, and the two begin an intense affair that consists of sexual experiments and various self-indulgences.

The Scene: For a movie famed for its unsimulated sex – based on real events – this moment really is a leg crosser. The couple’s mutual obsession escalates to the point where Ishida finds she is most excited by strangling her mate during lovemaking, and Kichizo is killed in this fashion. Sada then severs his penis, walks around with it inside her for weeks, and writes, “Sada Kichi the two of us forever,” in blood on his chest. Maybe next time you’re keen on a memento, a picture would work better?

14. Night Of The Demon (1980)

Night Of The Demon Movie

The Movie: Night Of The Demon is a story of “horribly mutilated” people (that phrase shows up twice in the first five minutes of the flick). A horribly mutilated anthropology professor is telling his mutilated story from his hospital bed to his doctor and the cops. The poor bastard had taken his class out into the weeds to hunt for traces of Bigfoot. As they encroach on “Bigfoot territory” (their terminology, not ours), they whisper tales of the beast and uncover the sordid history behind the area.

The Scene: In the most memorable moment of the film, a biker stops to take a leak, and when he whips out his wang, the story’s monster claws that sucker right off.

13. RoboCop (1987)

RoboCop Scene

The Movie: Paul Verhoeven’s Robocop is perhaps the closest any pure sci-fi film could ever come to also being a traditional superhero tale, albeit one that’s darkly humorous and unflinchingly violent. Peter Weller, of course, stars as murdered Detroit police officer Alex Murphy, who’s brought back to life in the form of “six million dollar” half man/half robot hybrid of law enforcement mastery.

The Scene: On his first night out on patrol, Robo sets about cleaning up the streets. Marching down an alleyway where a pair of scumbags are terrorizing a young woman, RoboCop draws his gun and barks, “Let the woman go. You’re under arrest.” When one of the attackers holds the woman hostage at knifepoint, RoboCop fires a deadly-accurate shot that punches through the hostage’s dress and hits the bad guy square in the balls.

Side-note: This scene was paid its proper respect in a recently released fan-made RoboCop remake, and it was quite epic.

12. Eve Of Destruction (1991)

Renee Soutendijk Eve Of Destruction

The Movie: After years of research and millions of taxpayer dollars, a secret section of the government has finally created the world’s first humanoid robot. Her name is Eve VIII (Renée Soutendijk) and she’s blonde, beautiful, and fully ready to detonate. When Eve escapes her scientific creator and goes on a crazy rampage, the military brings in one of the best counter terrorists they can find to take her down

The Scene: Eve meets a Chuck Norris clone in a redneck bar at some motel. Back in his room he gets a bit rough with her – calls her a bitch – so she bites his penis off, then proceeds to beat the hell out of his two beer swilling buddies who were listening at the door. Why would she do such a thing? Well, her brain is modeled on that of her mad scientist creator, who was once raped by guys who called her “bitch.” So basically whenever her cyborg creation hears that word – well, let’s just say the outcome isn’t pretty.

11. Pulp Fiction (1994)

Pulp Fiction Zed

The Movie: If Reservoir Dogs was the movie that got Quentin Tarantino off the ground then Pulp Fiction was the film that put him into the cinematic stratosphere. The film connects the intersecting storylines of Los Angeles gangsters, shady individuals, small-time criminals, and a mystifying briefcase.

The Scene: Through a series of events, enemies Marsellus Wallace (Ving Rhames) and Butch (Bruce Willis) randomly end up in a pawnshop where they are both taken captive by its owner, Maynard (Duane Whitaker), and tied up in his basement. He calls his friend Zed (Peter Greene) and they take Marsellus into a room and rape him while the mysterious “gimp” looks after Butch.

After Butch ultimately escapes, he reluctantly goes back to get Marsellus – who is being sodomized on a pommel horse. Butch slices up Maynard with a Katana. Marsellus then grabs Maynard’s shotgun and shoots Zed in the crotch. And we can only imagine that much worse things were in Zed’s (undoubtedly short-lived) future.
