It’s no secret that the horror genre and film critics rarely mesh well together. As horror fans, we typically use the argument that critics just don’t “get” the appeal of horror films. In many ways, that’s probably a valid argument. Film critics and horror fans come to this genre for two different reasons. If you apply the same critical thinking you would use to dissect a movie like The Tree Of Life to a horror movie, you’re going to walk away more disappointed than not.
This brings us to Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert, two such mainstream critics who seemed to loathe the horror genre extensively. Well, that’s not entirely true, Roger did give praise to some unlikely horror pictures, including Wes Craven’s Last House On The Left.
Anyway, with all this being said, we’d like to present you with a full hour of Siskel & Ebert reviewing horror movies. The films in question include: Halloween (1978), Friday The 13th: The Final Chapter (1984) Child’s Play (1988), and Candyman (1992), among many others. Enjoy!
